Gang Bang Volume 5
Studio: Red Light District Director: John Strong Cast: Sasha Gray, Naomi, everybody else
Portions of this review originally appeared on Fleshbot
This two-disc movie, containing two individually-packaged DVDs of first Naomi, then Sasha Grey being gangbanged, really is of tremendous value to people who like to watch women getting gangbanged.
It's difficult sometimes to figure out what to watch for. Both women are porntastically receptive, and this is a movie that does not get off on a woman being surprised or cajoled into being septuple-teamed. In fact, both Naomi and Grey appear, if not sincere (Naomi), then enthusiastic and receptive.
Director Strong gets all the right angles and doesn't worry about shot composure any more than what is necessary to see all the right parts at the right time, a commitment to simplicity that other gonzo directors should take heed of. Naomi and Grey are each the star of her own disc, and each appears in sequences increasing in ganginess until she is almost lost in a forest of packages.
Naomi is whippet thin with an ass that Brian Surewood seeks to frame and put in a museum. Throughout the movie, people just can't believe her ass. It is astounding. But Naomi is a little too camera friendly, and her porn mugging would shame Fred Willard. By the end of the DVD, the pasted-on whorishness has started to unravel, and - who can blame her? - she looks genuinely uncomfortable.
Grey on the other hand seems like the real thing. While dialogue isn't the point here, there was an exchange that speaks volumes.
VOICE IN THE CROWD: Whore. GREY: Don't you call me a whore you fucking motherfucker! This is my fucking cock! (SHE slaps a fellow's dick out of his own hand.) VOICE IN THE CROWD: Shut up.
In the end (and everywhere else), both women are used most harshly. It seems Grey had the upper hand throughout but that Naomi just endured it. In that way the discs, which each follow the same formula, are very different.

Her First Lesbian Sex 9
Studio: Pink Visual Director: Jonas, Rico Cast: Brooke, Brea, Ariel, Denise, Naomi, Hailey, Amy Ried, Ashley, Naomi
Portions of this review originally appeared on Fleshbot
This movie opens cold. There is no jingle, credits sequence, or scrolling exposition about Emperor Palpatine. Instead we are suddenly following Hailey (we don't even bother with a last name until Amy Ried) as she searches for someone to indoctrinate. She finds Brea, sullenly eating a quesadilla. Like each scene, the intended will ask who the guy with the camera is, and the director will reply that he's casting a TV show. Exit to the Sex Couch.
Each scene presents a vaguely plausible setup, and what is always compelling about these movies is that the initial meeting is in a public place. I ate at that taco stand! I've been to that furniture store! Pasta Roma has good slices!
We know that everyone involved had a blood test and showed two forms of ID before cameras even rolled, but the variables - the disapproving look of the furniture store owner, for example, sets these faux documentaries apart.
My favorite scenes are between Naomi and Brooke and Ried and Denise. The last scene, between Ashley and Ariel, stretches believability just a little bit as Ariel feels compelled to say, "I've never seen a naked women before."
Porn would crumble and disappear into the ground if there wasn't at least the possibility that the woman with the shaved pussy, piercings, and coccygeal tattoo wasn't lying.

Studio: Digital Playground Director: Robby D. Cast: Shay J., Jamie Lynn, Mindy Main, Sasha Grey, Whitney Stevens, Brianna Beach

Digital Playground's Control series, at least as it was explained to me, was to be the fetish volume in the company's library. The fourth installment looks, aside from a great scene with Sasha Grey, like any other gonzo offering on DP's shelves.
If porn is porn, then this movie is another quality Digital Playground production. But for people seeking something that doesn't look like everything else Robby D. does, I would lose Control 4.
Let's pretend this movie came from the days before everything needed to be so specialized in order for porn companies to stay afloat. With that in mind, Brianna Beach's scene opening the movie is perfectly serviceable.
Interstitial shots of Jamie Lynn in various getups provide a light spray of fetish content (leather-blindfolded and guided this way and that), but then we are back to straight porn. The only scene that really lives up to the Control mission statement is Sasha Grey's dirty interlude with a couple of fellows. Grey seems like the real thing.
New Digital Playground contract girl Shay J. and Scott Nails perform the final scene of the movie, but putting someone in leather does not make her a dominatrix, and the growing ranks of same-movies-with-different-titles that Digital Playground is releasing does not make one discernible from another.
But still, if porn is porn, then Control 4 is universal, if remote.

Studio: Black Mirror/VCA Director: Joe Gallant Cast: Kimberly Kane, Tommy Pistol, Veronica Jett, Brian Surewood, Trina Michaels, Alex Sanders, Michelle Aston

Now that "It's A Wonderful Life" season has returned, I always think of the line "Why don't you kiss her instead of talking her to death?" when I watch porn by brainy people. I don't care why you're thinking of fucking each other, just for the love of God do it.
Gallant's film at first sent up red flags because of the whole "evil corporation" thing, but everyone is so fun and well-cast in it, especially Kimberly Kane, Tommy Pistol, and Brian Surewood in the role he was porn to play, that the story just keeps getting better.
Our heroes are having complex dreams, sleep-writing elaborate plans of a Black Mirror, a device that stores and amplifies moonlight. This device will set the slaves free, we are told, but first dreamers Veronica Jett and Tommy Pistol must be indoctrinated into the freedom fighters. "Sic itur ad astra" (This is how the stars are reached) says Surewood in the Porn Valley Desert, howling and barking and fucking Trina Michaels.
Some great music by Gallant and crew accompany his trademark outdoor or warehouse-based gritty sex scenes, along with occasional ripped from the headlines imagery co-opted for porn, like a creepy Abu-Ghraib sequence.
All the while we are treated to low-down, been-around-the-block footage of Kane and Trina Michaels, the latter a performer who is rarely seen outside of gonzo movies but who is perfect in her hardened but lascivious way for a Joe Gallant flick. Add to that the fearless Michelle Aston, working herself over with a Hitachi Magic Wand of the Future, and viewers may take some comfort in knowing that at least the coming totalitarian consumer state will have hot subversive chicks in it.
