In Hollywood, people drop names. I might casually say, "I was doing body shots off Tova Borgnine today" or "Britney shot my donkey" in order to impress people.In Porn Valley, the practice of dropping a performer's real name in conversation is called Name Bombing. The Name-bomber seeks to show that he or she is close to the bombee and uses the bomb as a weak status-raising gesture. It is an aggressive act and, true to porn standards, never done subtly.
As you know, my real name is Ronnie James Dio. Somebody name-bombed me last week and, considering the source should really have known better, it irritated me. Then I went on a set and name-bombed myself.
"Hi, I'm Ronnie James Di - aw fuck," I said.
I was at an event the other night and a third party introduced me to a porn star by her real name. She was shocked and corrected him, but it was too late. Now I know her real name and will be forced to stalk her. The person doing the introduction turns out to have been her newly-minted ex-boyfriend. She looked at him with disgust and he smirked. That's the scenario behind a name-bomb.
