Former AVN scribe, porn publicist, Canadian, and blogger Carly Milne has published Naked Ambition, featuring essays by women who make, sell, and think about pornography. The book comes from contacts made during Milne's several years of carpetbagging in the industry. "I was always clear that I wanted to write a book," she said.
"Does that mean our love wasn't real?" I asked.
"Our love is the realest thing I've ever known," she did not say.
Carly put together a Who's Who of women in the industry, including Tera Patrick, The Original Violet Blue, Theresa Flynt, Tristan Taormino, Holly Randall, and many others to describe what it is like to be a woman in porn.
"I'm gonna cry," Joanna Angel said today. Angel wrote a chapter in the Wanton Webmistresses section. "Seriously. I'm so happy!"
I asked Milne who the space lady was on the cover.
"People have been asking if it was me," she said, "but my publisher sent it over. It's a stock photo."
"...of a woman from space?" I pressed.
There will be a reading from the book next Thursday, October 20, from 7 to 9 at Hustler Hollywood. On hand will be Milne, Violet Blue, and PurePlay's Jodie Marie.
Like a butterfly ("A wild butterfly," says the chick from Animotion), Milne alighted on the porn industry and is now gone, though she is shopping another book about her experiences in the adult business. Sources say it is titled Green Eggs And Gram.
Naked Ambition is available from Amazon.com at the link above.
